Calling in the Context of Collapse

Sep 22, 2024    Rev. Mariama White-Hammond

1.   Paul begins and ends with instructions about how to focus your headspace in rejoicing and gratitude and in those things that are true and worthy of praise. How is your headspace doing? Focus on where you are/ or have previously been getting it right – how can you grow that?

2.   Where do you have opportunities for more gentleness? Imagine an easy opportunity for you to demonstrate gentleness with someone who you have not done so in the past. Spend some time visualizing your act of gentleness and planning to do it this week.

3.   Write down your worries on a list so that you can get them out of your head and literally hand them to God. Feel free to safely put them somewhere or even rip them up if that feels like a helpful embodied practice.

4. Our lives are bombarded with bad news. What is a source of good news, truth and things worthy of praise that you could start your day with? (It could be a devotional, something that makes you laugh or time with a child who lifts your spirit.)
